It's not uncommon to discover runaway LA-natives building their dreams in the desert, but rarely has a restaurant and bar been as well executed as The Tropicale. Housed in a former-Cadillac garage one block southwest of downtown, the entire rear of the property is a lined in an open drinking bar with bicep-flashing bartenders. Like LA's Abbey circa 1990 with much-better food, this down-home style restaurant mixes the sexy appeal of Dezi Arnez with the business sensibility of consistent feel-good food in an always-packed dining room.
